Advocacy Insiders

Advocacy Insiders are brand-side exhibitors seeking peer-to-peer networking opportunities. Meetings are held quarterly (1 hour each) and are by invitation only.

To attend, you must be an exhibitor member or sponsor of The Exhibitor Advocate. Request an invitation by submitting your information below.

The Exhibitor Advocate – Committee Descriptions

All committees meet monthly and provide updates to the Advisory Council during regular meetings. Committee members can be current Advocate members and/or colleagues of committee members. Committee Chairs and members will serve for one year with the option to continue in the role annually. Active committee members will be considered for Board and staff positions as opportunities arise.

Membership:

Objective: Drive member engagement, foster community, and support member retention.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide input, guidance and ideas for promoting The Exhibitor Advocate to potential new members
  • Onboard new members through personal outreach.
  • Introduce new members to online platforms, events, committee opportunities, etc.
  • Host quarterly New Member Orientation sessions, potentially co-led with the Executive Director, as part of the Member Forums.
  • Outreach to, and support, existing members
  • Gather insights from members on pressing industry issues
    • Promote new initiatives by The Exhibitor Advocate
    • Share tools, best practices, and resources regularly to support members in navigating common exhibiting challenges.
  • Serve as brand ambassadors in the exhibitions and events industry both online and at events.

 

Education:

Objective: Develop and deliver high-quality educational content that empowers exhibitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director to align educational content with the annual marketing strategy, industry policies, exhibitor rights, and advocacy efforts.
  • Generate ideas for seminars, workshops, and resource materials, including workbooks, checklists, and “how-to” guides.
  • Engage and invite speakers for discussion forums, seminars, and workshops.
  • Periodically lead educational sessions or moderate guest speaker events.

 

Communications/Copywriting:

 Objective: Amplify The Exhibitor Advocate’s voice and enhance visibility through consistent messaging.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Write quarterly articles from the voice of The Exhibitor Advocate for industry publications such as ECN, TSNN, and Event Marketer, focusing on Advocate news and industry challenges.
  • Coordinate with members to produce two monthly blog posts on timely industry topics and member experiences.
  • Draft and edit The Exhibitor Advocate’s monthly newsletter in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Draft press releases and announcements promoting the launch of content, tools or research, from The Exhibitor Advocate
  • Provide input on the voice of The Exhibitor Advocate and guide fellow committees to ensure consistency across all content and committee outputs.

 

Social/Digital:

Objective: Strengthen The Exhibitor Advocate’s online presence and foster digital engagement

Key Responsibilities:

  • Convert Advocate key messages and content into LinkedIn posts, publishing 1-2 times per week.
  • Guide members on best practices for LinkedIn engagement, including tags, hashtags, and commenting.
  • Manage The Exhibitor Advocate’s social accounts, including follower strategy, content sharing, and re-posting partner content.
  • Moderate and facilitate discussions in “The Exhibitor Voice” private group.
    • Foster discussions around exhibitor challenges, fair practices, and resource sharing within the online community.
  • Collaborate with the website team to ensure the site is updated with fresh content, resources, and recommendations.

 

Fundraising and Sponsor Activation:

Objective: Drive sponsorship acquisition and maximize sponsor engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify, reach out to, and secure potential sponsors aligned with The Exhibitor Advocate’s mission.
  • Develop sponsor opportunities and oversee contracted activations, including social media posts and sponsor-led content.
  • Collaborate with sponsors to contribute to educational materials or sessions, providing members with additional insights and resources.
  • Work with the Executive Director to create regular sponsor updates, ensuring visibility and engagement.
